Okay! I made the first major purchase today, specifically for school use - a laptop stand. The ones which allow you to laze in bed and let you prop up your laptop so an audience could think you're hard at work! The one in the picture... It took an 8.30am trip across town to meet a young Chinese entrepreneur who was barely out of school outside the LRT station. Alas, he'd brought along a baby blue stand. We then took off to his shop to see if he had a colour I could be caught-dead with...across town again! Our man opened each one of the 30-or-so boxes and each time he drew a pink, an orange, a blue, a green before we hit pay-dirt with the LAST box! Not once did he complain. Money exchanged hands, goods exchanged hands, the deal was done.
The young man makes trips to Hangzhou every once in a while and trolls "the largest IT market in the world with 43000 shops", yes, 43000, forty three thousand. Ok, that's one too many thousand shops even for an IT geek like me. His older sister is his financier and he doesn't like re-selling, just plain and simple whole-selling. Smart kid.
45 kms and 2 hours later, here I am, on bed, laptop perched on the new stand, writing my first blog-post. I hope I continue this journal...
